Feeling Blue

Very happy to see a book I edited by a first-time author hit the shelves yesterday. Last year, I joined Reedsy.com, a platform which connects people to book publishing professionals – writers, ghostwriters, editors, designers, illustrators, etc. Dickie Denton, an obsessive Manchester City supporter, was one of the first to get in touch and asked me to look at a sample chapter of his memoir and synopsis.

I was impressed with his writing, and the outline of his story, which goes beyond football and club affiliation into themes of love, race and identity. Dickie, for his part, was willing to overlook my associations with Manchester United, and took me on as editor

He didn’t have a publisher lined up at that time, so I was really pleased when he messaged me a few weeks after I completed my edit to say that Pitch Publishing had offered him a deal.

I concur with the blurb on Amazon, which says: ‘Feeling Blue is not just for Man City fans, or even just football fans. It is a deeply personal story told with humour and honesty that will appeal to all and bring forth tears and laughter in equal measure.’

So, big congratulations to Dickie on a terrific book. Please take a look and share with fellow football fans and friends…
